A few members have inquired as
to exactly what type of computer, connection and services I use. I figured it would be a
good idea to share all the details so other home business owners can see first-hand that
you do not need expensive solutions to make serious money online.
My computer: 500mhz Pentium III
PC with 128 meg ram
Main software:
Operating System: Windows 2000
Browser: Internet Explorer 6
Web Design Software: FrontPage 2002 and occasionally CuteHTML (for minor html
editing -- I don't know much html so I don't use this often!)
Email: Eudora Pro 5.1 for day to day use. (I realize there are newer versions
but I like this one!)
Worldmerge 3.30 for email merges such as monthly article releases to ezine editors.
Other software used regularly:
Utilities: Keyboard Express (to save time typing repetitive text)
UltraEdit32 (for formatting articles and ezine issues)
Backups: Second Copy (automates backups to my internal Zip drive)
Database: Microsoft Access (for customer database)
Uploading to website: CuteFTP
Info-product creation software:
In Print: Microsoft Publisher
Electronic publishing (ebooks):
Neobook
Video
Projects: Camtasia
Web services:
Internet connection: Earthlink ISP 56k (Living in a rural area means a lack of
broadband access options!)
Web hosting: Hosting.com dedicated server (way too expensive,
but moving is a hassle! I recommend
this host for your business.)
Email list management:
Web Business Wizard
Autoresponders:
Web Business Wizard
Fax and Voice Mail: Jfax (now called
j2.com)
CGI Scripts:
Private site management: Illmatic.net
Affiliate program management: YOAP
for this site and Web Business Wizard
for new sites.
